Training and Education Manager (Safety, Health and Environmental Professional)

Salary range for fully qualified individuals starts at $70,000.



The Training and Education Manager is a full time, salaried position reporting to the company Executive and associated with an office location in the Harrisburg, PA area.  This is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act and includes an exceptional benefit package with employment. 


The Training and Education Manager is responsible for daily operation of the training component of the company.  This includes the planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, scheduling or presenting four types of educational offerings:


  • Scheduled Safety, Health, Environmental Protection and Emergency Response classes (e.g. those published on the annual training schedule);
  • Customized Safety, Health, Environmental Protection and Emergency Response classes (e.g. those developed for clients which may include routine classes at client locations or specialized client classes);
  • Contract Safety, Health, Environmental Protection and Emergency Response classes (e.g. those developed for specific purposes which are provided at client locations over an extended period of time); and
  • Internal training and education designed to maintain the capabilities and licenses of Cocciardi personnel.


Activities include scheduling, validating attendee prerequisite capabilities, performing classroom and field drills, and maintaining training equipment and supplies.  A review and update of class outlines, instructor outlines and a listing with descriptive narratives of all classes offered by the company is maintained.


The selected individual will have a minimum of eight years documented full time safety/environmental health work experience including four years supervisory experience, a bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university, and professional certification or advanced degree.  Certified Environmental Trainers (CET) typify qualified individuals.


Successful candidates must pass an employment physical examination documenting the ability to perform essential job tasks and includes a drug screen.  A valid driver’s license is required for this position.  Typical work weeks exceed 40 hours, and travel is required (25%).  A telephone interview may initially be held with candidates who meet minimum requirements.  Subsequently, writing samples will be requested and an interview with the hiring team will be arranged.
